To quote Christopher Harris, (2006), Library Journal, “These tools will necessarily redefine the learning landscape as we know it. And school libraries—if they are to remain relevant—must undergo transformation as well.”

In reading Michael Steven’s writings, “Exploring Web 2.0 and Libraries,” Library Technology Reports (July-August 2006) http://www.techsource.ala.org/ (accessed July 7, 2008), it again struck home how Web 2.0 “affords connections among people, people who can create content-ideas, thoughts, and full-blown theories-can connect with those who may respond, augment, and redistribute that content in new ways.”
What is incredible is that most of these social technologies are simple to use. For Assignment 1, I joined a group of two other ladies in the class- Lorraine Nygaard and Trish Johnson and basically, we were all at the same level. We created, “Blog, Blog” and posted all our learning and musings about blogs on this site. http://lnygaard.blogspot.com/.
Our learning evolved considerably, as you probably have noted from our postings. The great thing was that we could see the applications for the classroom and the library.
